Woman dies in Cross Plains vehicular accident

A woman lost her life after the 2000 Hyundai Tiburon she had been driving along Highway 14 in the Town of Cross Plains, Wisconsin crossed the median and collided head-on with another vehicle on Thursday, January 7 at around 9:43 in the morning. The Dane County Sheriff’s Office identified the victim as 30-year-old Mazomanie resident Leah Harris.

According to preliminary investigations, Harris had been headed west on Highway 14 when her vehicle veered over the center line into the eastbound lane where she collided with a 2010 Lexus sport utility vehicle operated by a 33-year-old Black Earth woman.

Harris succumbed to her injuries right after the accident. The other vehicle was occupied by two women and two children, each of which sustained minor injuries and were treated at a local hospital and released.

Police officers stated that the airbags in both of the vehicles deployed in the collision and that both drivers had been wearing their seat belts at the time of the incident.
