Woman killed in collision between car and semi-truck

The Dane County Sheriff’s Office in Wisconsin has reported that a 66-year-old Fort Atkinson woman lost her life in a head-on collision between her car and a semi-truck on Highway 12 near Clear View Road in the town of Christiana just before 2 p.m. on Monday, November 9.

According to Dane County sheriff’s deputies, the woman had been driving a 2009 Ford Flex eastbound along Highway 12 when she crossed the median line and collided with a westbound semi-truck driven by a 38-year-old Kenosha man.

The woman was declared dead at the scene of the accident by medical responders. The driver of the semi-truck sustained serious injuries and was taken to the hospital for the treatment of his undisclosed injuries.

Highway 12 was temporarily closed off to public traffic for several hour in order to make way for the investigation team and the cleanup of the vehicles.

Authorities said they did not believe that either a high rate of speed or intoxication were factors in the accident.
