Five-year-old girl killed by van in driveway accident

A van backed out of a driveway and hit a five-year-old Kenosha girl who was standing at its edge, Fox6 reported on July 28.

The van was drive by a 16-year-old Racine boy, who claims he did not see the child. Authorities note that the steepness of the driveway could have contributed to his inability to see her. The young girl was in the neighborhood to attend a party. After she was hit, she was rushed to the hospital. She died from her injuries in the Wheaton Franciscan Emergency Room.

When the girl was hit initially, bystanders began screaming at the boy to stop. He stopped and pulled forward again, allegedly unaware that he had hit someone.

Authorities are continuing to investigate, but it is so far believed to be a tragic accident. The family of the girl, however, disagrees.

The attorneys at Habush Habush & Rottier S.C. extend heartfelt condolences to the friends and family suffering during this time.
