Police authorities from the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office and the Wisconsin State Patrol reported a crash that occurred on Highway 23 between Seven Hills Road and County Highway W at around 5:30 a.m. on August 14 that led to the death of a 53-year-old Fond du Lac woman.

According to Captain Rick Olig, the victim took pre-emptive action by driving her vehicle onto the east shoulder when she saw the vehicle of a 51-year-old Plymouth woman attempting to recklessly pass a number of vehicles ahead of her. However, she lost control of her vehicle, veering into the westbound lane before being hit by an oncoming vehicle operated by a 41-year-old St. Cloud man.

The Plymouth woman, who left the scene of the accident, was later stopped by police authorities along Highway 151 and Wonser Road.
