Lyons Township crash kills Twin Lakes police officer

A Lyons Township car accident claimed the life of a Twin Lakes police officer on Saturday, May 25.

According to a joint news release from the Walworth County Sheriff’s Office and the Twin Lakes Police Department in Kenosha County, Spring Prairie resident Lieutenant Jeffrey C. Kreft, 36, was driving his 1998 Saturn on Wisconsin Highway 120 in Lyons just after 6:30 a.m. when he was hit. The crash occurred while Kreft was on his way home from work when a 16-year-old boy heading south in a Ford F-150 pickup crashed into Kreft’s vehicle about half a mile south of Wisconsin Highway 36, just outside the village of Springfield.

Police authorities said Kreft sustained life-threatening injuries from the crash and was declared dead at 7:12 a.m.

Both drivers were alone in their automobiles when the crash occurred and were both wearing seat belts.

Our legal team at Habush Habush & Rottier S.C. sends their sincere condolences to all those affected by this tragic accident and loss.
