Pleasant Prairie car crash causes man serious physical injuries

A single-vehicle accident on the 11800 block of 39th Avenue in Pleasant Prairie caused a 51-year-old Winthrop Harbor man to suffer serious injuries Monday, February 18.

Pleasant Prairie Police Department Sgt. Peter Jung identified the victim as James I. White.  The accident occurred when White crashed into a tree after his vehicle veered left of the road as he was driving southbound on 39th Avenue, just outside of 116th Street. Thus far, police have ruled out drunkenness and driver impairment as possible factors leading to the car crash.

White was taken by the Pleasant Prairie Fire and Rescue Department paramedics to the Kenosha Medical Center for immediate medical attention and was scheduled to undergo surgery late that same day.

Law enforcement officials had to shut down 39th Avenue for about 90 minutes after the accident to conduct a proper investigation of the accident.
