How to avoid deer accidents

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation has issued a warning urging drivers to be cautious of deer on the roadways in the coming months.

October and November are mating season for Wisconsin deer. The deer will be much more active during these two months than normal.

Because of this, the DOT has issued the following tips to drivers to help avoid collisions with deer:

  • Avoid anything that could distract you while driving.
  • If there is a deer in your path, do not expect it to move out of the way.
  • Honk your horn if you see a deer that may run into the road. This will scare it off.

There were over 18,000 reported deer accidents last year. The car accident lawyers of Habush Habush & Rottier S.C. ® encourage drivers to watch out for deer and stay safe.
