Man arrested for hit-and-run accident that killed service dog

A 29-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested by Waukesha police last week after authorities found his car, which was involved in a deadly hit-and-run. According to witnesses, the man was the driver in a hit-and-run accident that injured a woman and killed her service dog.

The woman says she was crossing the street at a crosswalk with her golden retriever service dog when an SUV suddenly came toward her and struck her dog. She suffered a broken foot in the accident.

Authorities say the man admitted to being involved in the accident but didn’t know he hit a dog, the Journal Sentinel reports. He has been charged with felony hit-and-run causing bodily injury, failing to yield the right of way, and driving without insurance.
