April is National Distracted Driving Awareness month

The United States Department of Transportation has named April as the National Distracted Driving Awareness month in order to raise awareness of the dangers of cellphone use while driving.

Earlier this year, the federal government passed a new law banning handheld cellphone use for all commercial truck, bus, and other fleet drivers. Violators could face up to $2,750 in fines per offense and repeated offenses could cost them their commercial licenses.

In Wisconsin, texting and driving is banned for all drivers. On November 1, a new law will go into effect that will ban all cellphone use, handheld as well as hands-free devices, for all novice drivers.

If you have been in a car accident due to a distracted driver, contact the reckless driving accident lawyers of Habush Habush & Rottier, S.C. by calling 800-242-2874.
