One killed, another injured in one-car crash

A Racine man died and a 17 year-old girl with a learner’s permit was injured Sunday afternoon in a one-car accident in Green Garden Township. The man, a passenger in the vehicle, was ejected from the car and pronounced dead at the scene.

According to a sheriff’s spokesperson, the teenaged girl was driving the car at the time of the accident. The driver was allegedly speeding on Scheer Road when she lost control on the gravel shoulder and flipped the car several times.

After the girl was extricated from the car, she was transported to Silver Cross Hospital with head and arm injuries. An investigation into the accident is still ongoing.
