Drunk driver charged in death of his wife

A 38 year-old Oshkosh man has been charged for a New Year’s Day fatal car accident that killed his wife. According to the criminal complaint, the man was them driving back home from New Year’s Eve celebrations when the truck went into a ditch.

When emergency responders arrived to the scene, the 38 year-old woman was found unresponsive, still buckled into the passenger seat. Her husband’s blood alcohol content was 0.17, more than two times the legal limit.

The man has been charged with intoxicated homicide with a motor vehicle, homicide by negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and homicide by motor vehicle with prohibited alcohol concentration. He could face up to 60 years in prison and $225,000 in fines if convicted.
