Man gets 5th DWI

A 46 year-old man is in the hospital and facing a felony DWI charge after he caused an car accident this past weekend. The man was drinking at a bar in Racine County and refused to take a SafeRide car home. Bar patrons, employees, and the SafeRide driver tried to prevent the man from leaving, but he got in his car and almost ran them over. A good Samaritan tried to follow him, but was unable to keep up as the drunk driver sped ahead.

The man ran a red light on Highway 11 before he rammed into a dump truck and was ejected from his vehicle. He is currently in critical condition and will face felony DWI charges since this is his fifth DWI citation.
