Man convicted of killing 3 students

A 32 year-old man was found guilty of three counts of vehicular homicide and one count of drunk driving that resulted in bodily injury. Three students at University of Minnesota were killed last October when their car tire blew out. They had pulled over in the emergency lane at the median along 39/90/94.

One student who survived said that he saw the vehicle coming at fast speeds and barely had time to warn his friends. The driver was found and had a blood alcohol level of 0.158, nearly twice the legal limit. Friends and family of the driver say he suffered from severe PDST after his time in Iraq and often used alcohol to cope.
