Wisconsin bill lowers auto insurance minimums

A new bill was passed in the Wisconsin legislature that lowered the required minimum for auto insurance. This change came after a 2009 bill raised auto insurance minimums.

Wisconsin has long held some of the lowest insurance rates in the United States, and Republicans have said that this change will help consumers pay less for their insurance.

Opponents of the bill have disagreed, saying that some drivers may have to buy multiple insurance coverages in order to adequately cover the costs of accidents. Also, some have stated that more drivers will be put into the high-risk category because of this bill, which would force them to pay more.
