Man injured in possible drunk driving accident

According to Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department deputies, a 25-year-old man was seriously injured in a semitrailer truck accident early Saturday on Highway 41.

The accident took place about 3 AM as the man was driving southbound on U.S. 41 near Winneconne Avenue. Authorities believe that the man struck a semitrailer truck in front of him before colliding with a concrete barrier.

The driver was removed from the vehicle by emergency personnel and rushed to Theda Clark Medical Center. He remains there today with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Deputies believe alcohol was involved in the crash.
