Driver of semi-truck sentenced to 5 years in prison for fatal accident

A 37-year-old man who worked as a semi-truck driver was recently sentenced to five years in prison for causing a car accident in Belgium that killed two people and injured two more in 2009.

The accident occurred on I-43 in 2009. Several cars were stopped on the highway due to heavy construction on the road. According to the prosecution, the 37-year-old man may have been asleep at the wheel of his semi-truck when he crashed into at least two cars that were stopped on the highway. A 78-year-old man and an 80-year-old woman died because of their injuries suffered in the crash.

The man was convicted of two felony counts of homicide by negligent operation of a vehicle and two reckless driving charges.

12-car wreck occurs on Wisconsin’s highway 41

An accident occurred on Saturday that involved ten cars and two semi-trucks on Wisconsin’s highway 41.  At least three people were seriously injured in the accident, and there were no fatalities.

The accident happened around 12:00 in the afternoon. A 47-year-old woman from Malone suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to the Theda Clark hospital. A 58-year-old man from Green Bay, as well as a 43-year-old woman from Suamico, were both released from the hospital after being treated for their injuries.

Police officers are still investigating the cause of the accident. At this point, it is unclear who was at fault in the accident.

Wisconsin Man is Killed in Truck Accident

A 53-year-old man from St. Croix, Wisconsin was killed last Friday in a semi-truck accident.

The man was driving a Buick on a road where the stoplights flashed amber for traffic heading east and west and red for traffic heading north and south. As a semi-truck, traveling east, drove through the light, the Buick, going north, pulled out directly into the path of the semi. The driver of the Buick was rushed to a local hospital where he died almost immediately.

It is not clear who was at fault in the accident, and investigations into the accident are still underway.

Driver of 18-Wheeler Suffers Minor Injuries After Accident

The driver of an 18-wheeler suffered minor injuries when the semi-truck he was driving rolled over.

The man was attempting to avoid hitting an oncoming car that was swerving into his lane. In doing so, he lost control of the semi-truck, and it turned sideways, blocking both lanes of traffic on a two-lane road. It then flipped over and came to rest across the lanes. Traffic on the highway was shut down for a brief amount of time while authorities cleared the vehicle.

The driver of the semi-truck was transported immediately to the hospital where he was treated for his injuries.

UW student killed in truck accident

A University of Wisconsin student was killed on January 12 in a two-vehicle accident involving a car and a semi-trailer truck.

20-year-old Anna Shoemaker was a passenger in the car that was involved in the collision, which occurred near the U.S. Highway 63 and Old U.S. 63 intersection.

Shoemaker sustained critical injuries and was airlifted to a nearby hospital where she died from head trauma.

The driver of the car was taken to a hospital and listed in stable condition. The driver of the semi was not injured in the crash.

Semi-trailer truck driver injured in rollover accident

A truck driver was injured in a two-vehicle rollover accident in Kenosha that occurred on I-94 Tuesday, December 28.

The driver of the semi was attempting to change lanes when the truck hit a passenger car, causing the semi to roll over and off of the road.

The semi driver sustained non life threatening injuries and was taken to St. Catherine’s Hospital for treatment. Police are investigating the accident.

16-Year-Old Girl Dies in Rollover Accident

A 16-year-old girl died last Friday in a single-vehicle rollover accident on US Highway 8. The girl was a passenger in a 2000 Chevy Blazer driven by a 17-year-old boy. They were approaching an intersection at speed when the driver noticed a car stopped at the intersection, waiting to turn left. The Blazer swerved to avoid hitting the stopped vehicle, hit a ditch, and flipped, ejecting the girl, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver and another passenger were taken to the hospital for treatment of less serious injuries.

Onalaska Man in Fatal Accident with Parked Dump Truck

A man died in a fatal accident when the pickup truck he was driving slammed into a parked, unoccupied dump truck. The accident occurred at about 7:30 on Friday evening on the 900 block of Onalaska. Officers say they found the man’s pickup crashed into the back of the dump truck.

The 50-year-old man was taken to a nearby hospital, but was pronounced dead within an hour of arrival.
