Two-vehicle collision kills three in Marathon

The Marathon County Sheriff’s Department in Wisconsin has reported that three people died in a head-on vehicular collision in central Wisconsin, according to weau.com.

The accident occurred Wednesday, February 4 on Highway 13 in Spencer. Officials now suspect that one car drifted past the center lane and hit the other car head on. Police investigators identified those involved in the accident as 22-year-old Medford resident Erasto Montes, who was in one vehicle, and a 71-year-old couple from Bruce, James and Christine Saxild. Montes and James Saxild perished at the scene of the accident, while Christine Saxild was rushed to a hospital nearby but she later died from her injuries.

Lieutenant Fred Gotch said their team is still conducting an investigation into the incident to find out more details about what happened during the accident, but they do not believe that the collision was cause by weather disturbances.
