A 32 year-old Iraq war veteran from Wisconsin was sentenced to thirteen years in prison and fifteen years extended supervision after causing a deadly car crash last year.

The man was intoxicated when he hit a disabled vehicle on the shoulder of Interstate 39/90/94. He killed three college students and injured another. They include a 19 year-old man and a 23 year-old man, both of who were students at the University of Minnesota. The 19 year-old’s fiancee was also killed.

The judge gave the man less prison time because she believes his severe post-traumatic stress disorder was a major factor in his decision to drive drunk that night.
