59-year old Thomas Fell and 46-year old Laurie Schmidt of Burlington were driving eastbound on Highway C in Salem approaching the intersection at 286th Avenue, with Fell at the wheel when they witnessed the terrifying motorcycle accident.  While nearing the intersection, Fell and Schmidt saw a pickup truck pull out of 286th Avenue and turn left onto Highway C, hitting another motorcyclist heading westbound.

Fell and Schmidt say the motorcycle became airborne and then fell, skidding along the road near their bike.  Fell slowed the bike until the hit motorcycle came to a stop.  ”The bike or truck could have hit us, if it were second later,” stated Fell.

When Fell and Schmidt went to help the motorcyclist he was not coherent and did not reply to their questions.  The victim was sent in a helicopter to Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa.  Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department officials reported that the 62-year old victim was not wearing a helmet, but did not sustain life-threatening injuries.
